Paths to Recovery (PTR) is a mobile, community-based mental health program in which registered nurses from Cottage Health’s St. Francis Parish Nursing Program, psychiatrists from the Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness, and PathPoint’s case managers and qualified mental health professionals provide treatment, psychosocial rehabilitation, and basic medical care that allows clients to achieve recovery. Founded in 2008, PTR is a Full Service Partnership (FSP) that supports people with a severe, persistent mental illness who are experiencing homelessness or living in supportive housing.
PTR’s intended outcome is for participants to maintain stable housing, implement effective coping strategies for their diagnosis, and identify physical and emotional health needs before a crisis escalates, thereby avoiding costly interactions with emergency services such as hospitals, jails, shelters, and law enforcement. The core tenet of the service is to meet clients’ mental health needs wherever they are – in the home and on the streets.
All client referrals for PTR come from the Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness. If you or someone you know would benefit from this service, please contact the county by calling or visiting their website:
