Robert Nelson Foundation Award for Project SEARCH

Santa Barbara, CA (November 5, 2021) The Robert Nelson Foundation awarded PathPoint a grant of $10,000 for the enhancement of five Project SEARCH sites across Los Angeles County.  PathPoint used this generous contribution to purchase iPads for classroom instruction, which will help interns learn and practice new skills such as typing, document formatting, and resume building.  Additionally, this technology will help facilitate the hybrid instruction model that the program has been using to ensure the highest degree of health and safety throughout the pandemic.  PathPoint used additional funds to enhance graduation ceremonies, commemorating the Project SEARCH interns’ hard work and resiliency throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project SEARCH is a business-led, year-long workplace immersion internship that provides a combination of classroom instruction, career and vocation exploration, and hands-on training through jobsite rotations. Through engagement in diverse instruction and hands-on experience, interns learn relevant, marketable skills that will help them obtain competitive employment after graduation from the program. PathPoint operates five Project SEARCH program sites in Los Angeles County: Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Ronald Reagan Medical Center at UCLA Los Angeles, Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center, and Henry Mayo Medical Center in Santa Clarita.

PathPoint is deeply appreciative for the Robert Nelson Foundation’s generous contribution to equip individuals with disabilities with the resources and skills they need to find meaningful community employment.
