Coronavirus Plan of Action Updated

We are reaching out to share the steps PathPoint is taking to address COVID-19 (coronavirus). We are committed to the health and safety of all the individuals we support and our employees.  As I’m sure you’re aware, COVID-19 is a virus that spreads easily person to person, mainly from airborne droplets released by the infected person through coughing or sneezing. Signs and symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) currently states that the risk of getting COVID-19 in the U.S. is currently low, however, the potential public health threat posed by COVID-19 is very high.

We are focused on preparedness and protection and not panic. We are closely following the CDC (Center for Disease Control), WHO (World Health Organization), Cal/OSHA, California Department of Public Health, and local public health agencies. We don’t have all of the answers, but we are working together to address each issue as it arises and be as proactive as possible. We have taken the following actions:

  1. We immediately implemented our virus protection protocol, that includes COVID-19, at all our facilities. These plans include mandatory hand washing—one of the best ways to prevent the virus; a disinfecting schedule for common areas such as bathrooms and kitchens; designating all PathPoint facilities as “no handshake” zones; and the appropriate use of gloves, masks, and hand sanitizers.

  2. We are requiring all employees and people we support to stay home when sick or suspected of being sick. We will follow required protocol if there is a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 that may impact individuals we serve or staff. We do not have any suspected or confirmed cases at this time.

  3. We are closely monitoring the coronavirus situation and implement recommendations through a number of resources including the Center for Disease Control, regional centers, state and local authorities, community care licensing centers, the federal government, and public health agencies. We are following their recommendations and will continue to do so. Our COVID Response Team is meeting daily at 4:00 pm and sending out internal updates afterwards to all PathPoint employees as well as regular updates to people supported, families, care takers and community members.

  4. We will modify programs as directed by the Department of Developmental Services, County Behavioral Health Departments, and community partners.  We will inform you of any program changes.

  5. We are promoting social distancing, such as limiting outside visitors to program locations, meeting via teleconference, and modifying community integration outings.

We are working together to address issues as the situation changes and be as proactive as possible. We will continue to provide you updates. Your local county health department is also a good source of information in your community. Please feel free to reach out with any comments, questions or suggestions.

Thank you for all that you are doing to be healthy, safe and kind,
Harry
