Who We Are
Overview

At-A-Glance

Established in 1964, PathPoint is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities or disadvantages to reach their fullest potential. PathPoint is a preeminent human services provider, nationally recognized and accredited, and a leader in the field of supported employment and independent living services.

THE ISSUE

  • According to the 2000 United States Census, 19 percent of the population from ages 21 to 64 in our service areas identify as having a disability. Unfortunately, without proper services and programs available to them, this population is at high-risk for poverty, homelessness, neglect, and abuse.

OUR MISSION

  • The mission of PathPoint is to provide comprehensive training and support services that empower people with disabilities or disadvantages to live and work as valued members of our communities.

OUR FINANCIAL HEALTH

  • PathPoint is a $24-million organization.  Our annual overhead is 11 percent, which means 89 cents of every dollar at PathPoint is spent as close to the people we serve as possible and the remaining 11 cents goes to supporting those efforts.  All fundraising dollars stay in our service areas.

OUR PARTICIPANTS

  • We currently serve over 2,000 individuals with disabilities or disadvantages including people with physical or developmental disabilities (such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, or Down Syndrome), people with psychiatric disabilities (such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, or Anxiety Disorder), and people who are disadvantaged (such as low-income seniors or at-risk foster youth transitioning to independence).

OUR COMMUNITIES

  • We offer services and programs throughout San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Kern and Los Angeles Counties.

OUR SERVICES

  • We provide a wide range of employment, independent living, and community access services from building social skills, vocational skills, and independent living skills, to providing the support necessary to maintain true, personal independence for a lifetime.

RECENT RECOGNITION

  • Recognized and accredited in the highest standing by CARF (Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities).
  • Named "Best Managed Nonprofit of the Year" by the San Fernando Valley Business Times in 2010.
  • Assigned a “low-risk audit” designation from the Harrington Group (CPA), which is only available after multiple years of unqualified opinions.
  • Named sixth largest non-profit in the tri-counties in 2008 (Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo) by Pacific Coast Business Times.
  • Honored by Nonprofit Support Center for Leadership in Action: Community Collaboration Award.  The award recognized ALL4CMH, a collaborative group of nonprofit organizations dedicated to preserving community mental health services.
  • National recognition for the ground-breaking, collaborative “El Carrillo Project” which provides affordable housing with supportive services to the formerly homeless/mental health populations in Santa Barbara.
